Kshamapna: Forgiveness

The 8days Jain festival called "Paryushan" has a very thoughtful message to give. It inspires you to forgive and forget the past grievances. "Michhami Dukkadam" is what you tell everyone, not only humans but every single soul in the universe. It is a prakrit phrase meaning 'to be forgiven' or 'may all evil that has been done be forgiven'.

Why do we forgive some one?
1. Because he can be harmful
2. Because you owe him
3. Because of some religious reason like God says we must forgive and forget
4. Because that is what you call as dignity
There can be many reasons. Be it. But the calmness you feel after forgiving wholeheartedly is inexpressible. Like we bath daily... our soul should also be cleaned at-least on a yearly basis!

As humans we tend to have some or the other feel of grievances, hatred, enmity, jealousy etc towards others. Slowly & gradually this ill feelings give rise to feelings of revenge which ultimately is a destructive process & in fact leads to nothing but imbalance of relations, mental strains, growth of hatred etc.

Hence we have been shown the path to FORGIVE so that we forgive others & ask for forgiveness from those people whom we have done wrong. In fact why asking forgiveness to just humans but to all living beings, each & every soul & thats why Shashtrakar's say:

SAVVASS JIVRASHISS BHAVO DHAMNIHIAA NIA CHITTO
SAVVAM KHAMAVAITA KHAMEMI SAVVASS AHYAMPI

which means that we should truly ask forgiveness from all soul's with folded hands bowed head & getting "Dharm Bhaav" in our heart so that not a single soul is left. We all commit mistakes but very few ask for forgiveness but it is also clearly said "TO ERR IS HUMAN, BUT TO FORGIVE IS DIVINE".
But we should understand that just saying MICHCHHAMI DUKKADAM doesnt lead us anywhere if we dont wish to take this "dravya kshama" to the class of "bhaav kshama". Really I too do feel that asking for forgiveness can be done but really forgiving someone needs courage.

Infact it wont be wrong to say that FORGIVENESS (ક્ષમા) is sister of COMPASSION (કરુણા) & daughter of NON-VIOLENCE (અહિંસા) & thats why one who forgives is said to be courageous & a real hero by saying:

KSHAMA VIRASYA BHUSANAM,

KSHAMA TEJASVINAM GUN,

KSHAMA RUPAM TAPASVINAM

I would like to quote SHRUTKEVALI SHRI BHADRA BAHU's sayings:

JO UVASAMEI TASS ATTHI AARAHNA

JO NA UVASAMEI TASS NATTHI AARAHNA

TAMHA APPANA CHHEV UVVASMIYAVYAM

It means that without asking & giving forgiveness, no religious or spiritual studies/conducts etc can be said to be complete. One who wants to build the temple of Worship, shall have to bring Forgiveness in Foundation itself. One who gives & takes forgiveness doesn't fall anywhere but rises in conduct.

BUT IS ASKING FORGIVENESS COMPLETES THE TASK??

NO. While saying Michchhami Dukkadam, we all say "KHAMEMI SAVVE JIVA, SAVVE JIVA KHAMANTU ME, MITTI ME SAVVA BHUVESU, VERAM MAJJHAM NA KENAI" which means & adds that AFTER SEEKING & GRANTING FORGIVENESS, WE SHOULD BE FRIENDLY TOWARDS THEM TOO.

Hope the above brings a light to not just forgive & get forgiven but ALSO TO BUILD A HEALTHY BOND OF FRIENDSHIP leading to love peace & harmony.

MICHCHHAMI DUKKADAM is anyone is hurt cause of above & if anything is said against Jin Vaani & Jin Aagya.

Pawna lakeside camping (Day 1)

Homeschool experience for our kid led us to understand the importance of small meaningful trips in the wild. We had been staying in a tent that had attached bathroom in the midst of a dessert during our Rajasthan trip but this one was such a raw experience. We were done with our morning routine and headed to lonavala at around 11. Listening to old songs that i love chorusing along, we reached Kailash Parbat for a lunch hault. H enjoyed homemade puranpoli that his granny made. At Kailash Parbat The weather was cold enough and H was happy to find a baby next table to play with. From here our journey was full of rough roads and yet we enjoyed looking at the scenes it had to offer. Farmer with his bullocks A farmer was ploughing his land which caught baby H's eyes. He realized we have reached another side of the world already. The tropical flowers and shrubs that H kept visiting were part of his love for colors. Pawna Lake, Thakursai Pretty Purple Flowers Ye

Lets go seed collecting

This is a post on how something that interested me so much got passed down to my son naturally. Nature always interested me although staying in Bangalore for a couple of years made it evoke.  I started noticing various fruit trees in my locality like coconut, papaya, jackfruit, pomegranate, fig and banana. It was surprising to me how food was grown in some households. The beauty of various seasons was much prominent in HSR Layout, making me exploring more about other trees and searching them on google. Few months ago I was much frustrated by my son's rag picking all day. He would stop at various intervals on our way to pick up things like tobacco wrappers or used plastic bottles from the roadside. While in the park he would keep searching for chips packets or used lollipop sticks. I was worried about his health and overall his habit. I would explain him with logic and multiple repetition, yet no gain. I myself was frustrated with so many NOs to him. I thought there need to

Pawna Lakeside Camping (Day 2)

Next morning I could wake before the birds chirped. It was gloomy and fog lay on the banks. I was trying to figure out east while reminding me where the sun set to the west.  The boys were still sleeping and my eyes was wide awake wanting to soak in more of this beauty. After the sun rose and my son rose... We all did a group hug and headed to the play area.  H made few friends and we had poha, chai and bread muskah for breakfast. The Resort people were kind enough to serve warm milk for my son. Hello Sun H starting to interest in photography New friends H was keen in exploring the place more. He showed me some red chilly plants, a sugarcane grass and few grasshoppers over a Chikoo tree. We spotted a green cocoon, a praying mantis and a grasshopper.
